How to organize a successful Easter Egg Hunt?

Step 1:

Decide how you want your Easter Egg Hunt to go

Start by answering a few questions to help you clarify your vision:

How would you prefer the search to proceed:

clues given in a specific order that lead to a big prize

or clues that lead them to a series of small prizes one by one?

Will it take place indoors or outdoors?

Where are the obvious places to hide the clues or eggs? These will determine the answer to the riddles in the clues.

What will the route be according to the clues? Where does it start and where does it end?

What is the order of the clues? Imagine the natural course of the space.

Sort the clues into areas that are appropriate for your home or garden.

A sketched map of the area can help you start planning. Mark the location of the clues on it with an X and then number the locations in the order of the established course.

Step 2:

Decide on the final prize for the Egg Hunt

If you are hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at home for your children:

The big gift found after following the clues would be their Easter gift.

A bigger gift to follow after a series of small gifts would be

a book, a game they can play together, a new outfit, or perhaps

tickets to a family vacation.

If you are hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at a location for a larger group of children:

You can think of the hunt more as a competition, where each child has a chance to find several small gifts (no one leaves empty-handed), but there will be only one winner - only the most agile will discover the big gift.

Step 3:

Prepare the Egg Hunt Props

Write the clues on cards (optional: in the shape of colourful eggs).

The number of clues will depend on the age of the children, their level of patience, the number of children and the available space.

Create or buy signs to guide the children.

Buy reusable egg-shaped boxes (I don't recommend plastic, metal, wood or cardboard are also available) for small gifts - if applicable.

Buy (and wrap) the gifts (you have some ideas for small gifts below).

Step 4:

Set Up the Egg Hunt

You can mark the areas with Easter or Spring-themed signs to make the route as clear as possible for the little ones.

Place the first clue somewhere where the children will definitely find it when the Egg Hunt begins.

Then place each clue in the location before the location described by the clue.

(That is, do not place the clue with the pillow right on/under the pillow, but near the window, for example.)

If you chose to give small gifts, hide them next to the clues (at each one or only in certain key places).

Step 5:

Hide the Final Gift at the End of the Egg Hunt Trail

Make sure the route is clear and the final gift is well hidden.

It would be a shame if the little ones found it too quickly and lost the charm of searching and deciphering the clues.
